Overview:
Assess immunity against tetanus by determining levels of circulating antibodies to tetanus toxin or to measure the immune response, postvaccination, in individuals suspected of immunodeficiency disorders
Determination of tetanus toxoid antibodies is of no value in assessing the need for prophylactic or therapeutic management. Immunity declines with age, and boosters are recommended every 10 years.
This procedure may be considered by Medicare and other carriers as investigational and, therefore, may not be payable as a covered benefit for patients.
