Overview:

Use: This profile serves as an aid in the diagnosis of allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA).

Limitations: Non-fumigatus strains account for ABPA in some cases,1-8 and IgG to these strains may not be detected by the ImmunoCAP® A. fumigatus IgG assay. Labcorp's Aspergillus Precipitating Antibodies, IgG [606846] assay includes most species associated with Aspergillus-related lung disease in the United States.

Collection Instructions:

Specimen: Serum, and whole blood

Volume: 2 mL serum, 4 mL whole blood (fill tube to capacity)

Minimum Volume: 1 mL serum, 0.5 mL whole blood (500 µL for pediatric microtainer capillary tubes; fill tube to capacity) (Note: This volume does not allow for repeat testing.)

Container: Gel-barrier tube, lavender-top (EDTA) tube

Collection: Transfer separated serum to a plastic transport tube. Invert lavender-top (EDTA) tube 8 to 10 times immediately after tube is filled at the time of collection.
