Overview:

Use: The detection of anti-RNAP III antibodies is useful in the diagnosis of SSc and for the identification of patients at risk for developing progressive skin thickening and renal crisis. The prevalence of IgG RNAP III antibodies is from 3 - 58% in SSc patients.

Specimen: Serum

Volume: 1 mL

Minimum Volume: 0.3 mL (Note: This volume does not allow for repeat testing.)

Container: Red-top tube or gel-barrier tube

Collection: Separate serum from cells within one hour of collection. Transfer to a plastic transport tube before shipping. To avoid delays in turnaround time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, please submit separate frozen specimens for each test requested.
