Overview:

The most common cause of mold diseases in humans is Aspergillus fumigatus, which produces gliotoxin, a mycotoxin that suppresses the immune system. Found in many homes and buildings, Aspergillus fumigatus typically only infects individuals with compromised immune systems but can be deadly: Invasive Aspergillosis (IA) is the leading cause of death in immunocompromised people.

Collection Details:

Collection Instructions:

1. Collect urine into the conical cup provided to approximately half full. Urine may be collected at any time of day. No fasting is required.

2. Pour urine into plastic tube. FILL ONLY ½ FULL. Securely seal the enclosed cap.

3. Print on the specimen tube, in the designated areas: Date collected, patient’s first and last name, and Date of Birth (DOB).

4. Seal specimen in biohazard bag and place in foam cavity inside the collection kit box.
