Overview:
Detect and quantitate HIV-1 in plasma with reflex to phenotype (at additional charge) if viral load is >1000 copies/mL.
Assay range: 20−10,000,000 copies/mL
Collection Instructions:
Ship in a screw-cap polypropylene frozen transport tube.
Collect specimen in three lavender-top (EDTA) tubes or three PPT™ tubes. Do not use green-top (heparin) tubes. Centrifuge specimen within six hours of collection. Remove plasma, transfer plasma to screw-cap polypropylene transport tubes (not "pop-top" or "snap-cap"), and freeze. Ship frozen (preferred). Do not ship frozen in PPT™. If PPT™ is used to collect plasma, specimen must be transferred to screw-cap tubes prior to freezing to avoid false elevation of low viral load samples. To avoid delays in turnaround time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, please submit separate frozen specimens for each test requested.
