Collection Instructions:

Plasma: blue-top (sodium citrate) tube; whole blood: lavender-top (EDTA) tube or yellow-top (ACD) tube; serum: red-top tube or gel-barrier tube.

Serum and plasma must be separated from cells within 45 minutes of venipuncture. Centrifuge plasma a second time before transferring to plastic transport tubes. To avoid delays in turnaround time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, please submit separate frozen specimens for each test requested.

Maintain whole blood at room temperature. Freeze serum and plasma.
