CPT Code: N/A
Stability Time: The sample is viable for up to 8 weeks from the date of sampling.
Reference Range: 3+ years or older
Overview:
This comprehensive test evaluates your gut health by analyzing both microbial and non-microbial markers, providing a detailed view of factors affecting inflammation, digestion, absorption, and immune responses. It utilizes advanced shotgun metagenomics to identify specific bacterial strains and their functions, offering precise and actionable insights.
Components:
- The Tiny Health Pro Gut Health Test includes two tests:
- Test 1:
-
- Test swab collection tube
- Return mailer
2. Test 2: Tiny Health Stool Chemistry Markers:
-
- Stool collection tray
- Disposable glove
- White capped vial
- Yellow capped vial (with absorbent material)* please note this will no longer be necessary in April 2025.
- Polar gel pack
- FedEx Clinical Pak with US prepaid return label
- Original cardboard box- retrain to store vial contents for return post.
Test Type:
- Microbial Analysis: Evaluates the relative abundance of different microorganisms and their functional roles in gut health.
- Non-Microbial Markers: Assesses stool chemistry related to digestion, inflammation, and immune function.
- Digestion/absorption markers: Elastase, fecal fats, carbohydrates
- Immunology: Secretory IgA
- SCFA concentrations: butyrate, acetate, propionate, valerate
- Inflammation markers: Lactoferrin, lysozyme, calprotectin
- Intestinal health markers: pH, Beta-glucuronidase, occult blood
- Target Audience: Suitable for adults and children over three years old, particularly those with gastrointestinal issues or those looking to optimize their gut health.
Transport:
- This PRO Gut Health test has two separate tests which are processed in two separate locations. It is critical to ship each test back to the appropriate lab or we will not be able to process your test.
- You will receive one USPS return mailer for the Tiny Health gut microbiome swab (stable at room temperatures for up to 8 weeks).
- You will receive one FedEx 2-day shipping return for the non-microbial markers test. This test needs to be flash frozen and shipped on ice.
- Samples should be shipped as soon as possible, ideally on Monday to Wednesday only.
- Packaging: The sample is placed in a biohazard bag and then into the original cardboard test kit box, which is sealed and placed inside a FedEx Clinical Pak for safe transport.
Stability Time:
- Microbial Samples: The collection swabs used in Tiny Health kits are designed with fast-drying technology that preserves and inactivates microbes from samples. These samples can be accurately processed at room temperature for up to 4-8 weeks.
- Non-Microbial Markers: For tests that analyze non-microbial markers, such as specific proteins, the samples must be flash-frozen before shipping, and shipped via 2-day shipping. This is crucial because these markers degrade at room temperature, impacting the reliability of test results.
